Los científicos de la Universidad de York usan esta técnica que puede emplearse en la investigación penal y así poder identificar los culpables de un hecho visto pero sin pruebas fehacientes. En los secuestros, abusos sexuales, etc la víctima, que está presente, capta la imagen en su pupila y esta puede ser rescatada posteriormente, con técnicas avanzadas.
Un nuevo estudio afirma que se pueden rescatar las imágenes reflejadas en la pupila de una persona fotografiada, lo cual proporcionaría grandes avances para la investigación penal.
La última edición de la revista especializada «plos one» publicó que la pupila de un individuo fotografiado contiene mucha información oculta ya que puede revelar el rostro del fotógrafo, así como el de los individuos que lo rodean.
Para lograr lo anterior, los expertos utilizaron un zoom de alta resolución en fotografías de pasaporte que revelaron en los ojos de los fotografiados una imagen sin alta calidad, pero fácilmente identificable.
En un experimento, los especialistas mostraron a varios observadores las imágenes obtenidas mediante esta técnica y quienes no estaban familiarizados con los rostros reflejados hicieron un reconocimiento con el 71 por ciento de precisión.
Rob Jenkins, autor principal de la investigación, sostuvo que la pupila es un espejo negro y para mejorar la imagen, se debe acercar y ajustar el contraste.
«Una imagen de una cara que se recupera de una reflexión en el ojo es 30 mil veces más pequeña que la cara del sujeto», acotó el experto.
Los autores del estudio también consideran que esta técnica puede emplearse en la investigación penal para identificar responsables de un secuestro o de abusos infantiles reflejados en las pupilas de las víctimas.
Estudios previos refieren que la mencionada parte del ojo es un orificio situado en la parte central del iris por el cual penetra la luz al interior del globo ocular.
